AirAsia, the region’s largest low-cost airline, is the first airline to fly internationally from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's newest terminal.
“It’s the most modern terminal in the country and it’s environmentally friendly," said Audrey Progastama Petriny, corporate communications manager for AirAsia. "I think it’s a more comfortable terminal.”
Having all AirAsia operations in one terminal will be “a more cost effective operation for us,” she added.
Audrey said the terminal was not solely dedicated to AirAsia because it was public facility.
AirAsia has become a highly Web based company, even beginning to charge for airport counter check-ins. Terminal 3’s modern information technology infrastructure will be helpful to the company.
This year around 3 million passengers have flown AirAsia from Jakarta on the more than 25 daily flights. Audrey expects the number of passengers to increase to 4 million next year.
